Is there a baseball card collector in the house?

I how downloaded “collection explorer” and a price guide from tuff stuff website. He bought 300 cards and I have organized them using the software. There is one column that is labeled “set.” His this for his reference or were the cards made in sets? If so how do I know what set it is? Could someone please help me to get started on this journey? He has became an ebay junky trying to buy more. I know he is buying worthless items, but it is what he wants. I’m not going to stop him as longs as he doesn’t ask for a lot of money. I would love to hear any suggestions you may have.
