i recently started collecting baseball cards again more this time around for an investment than anything. but even at 32 i still catch myself smiling and rembering all the old players and names. ive been buying most of my cards off of ebay and was wondering if thats the best way or my local card shop, im sure both are just as good as the other. we are expecting triplets..YES I said TRIPLETS..lol…2 boys and 1 girl in november december sometime and im trying to get a small collection started for them as well but something that will collect value as they grow older and possibly help out fiancialy with there education as well. so i guess my main question is where can i look for un-weighed, un miked, un searched cards that might bring some good value?

§∂p¡£n† asked: My son has recently decided he wants to collect baseball cards (new ones), and I am so confused by the different brands. Topps for example is so much more expensive then, say Upper Deck, for significantly less cards. There are many other brands as well. Prices are very different as well as the number of cards in a pack. Is there any reasoning behind this?
Also I notice some cards are signed (not really thought, the signatures are printed on there). Does this really effect how valuable the card is, or is this justs a ploy to get you to pay more?
People who know about baseball cards, and possibly collect them too… please comment!
Thanks
It’s not my intention to make sure he collects cards that will be worth a load of money one day. I am just new to this and wasn’t sure the more expensive cards were worth it, or if the cheapest brands are just as good.
This is a hobby for him, but as I am the parent and spend the money, I want to be informed before I started purchasing them for him. As I don’t know where to begin!

gamblingsucks asked: Ive collected some baseball cards from 1987-1993. Id say I have 700 cards from Topps, Donruss, Fleer, Upper Deck, etc.etc.14 years later I find out these are basically completely worthless. I checked all the price guides and looked for rookie cards and everything. I’m disappointed and want to know whats the best way of getting rid of these?
Should I sell them? If so where and how or should I trash or donate them? Thanks
Carla

I always buy Topps(complete set) I buy packs of certain brands & if I like the style of the card, I try to get complete set. I also like Topps Heritage & Bowman Heritage because they are making cards look like cards from old sets in 50’s & 60’s. I also collect any Baltimore Oriole related cards plus cards of Jeter, Pujolos, A-Rod, Ichiro, Griffey Jr, McGwire & a few other stars.
